My 5 Favourite Places To Eat & Drink In Coventry

Hey everyone! I’m Natalee from There Might Be Coffee and this is officially my first post on the Coventry Bloggers page! How exciting eh? 😀

I’m not actually from Coventry, I’m from Birmingham but this being said my boyfriend is from Coventry so I visited here quite a lot to see him when he lived here. I say visited but I still visit Coventry quite a lot to this day, whether it to be visit my boyfriends family, friends or even to come for blog events and see the gorgeous Coventry Blogger girls!

I’ll be writing a little series about my top 5 places to visit whenever I come to Coventry, with the first post in the series being about food and drink. If there is one thing I love it’s food and if I visit somewhere and they have at least 3 good places, I know I’ll visit that place again in in the future.

I really hope you enjoy this post from myself and whether you live in Coventry or visit regular like myself, I really hope you discover somewhere new through it.

– Chi Bar – 13 High St, Coventry CV1 5RE – (website)

This is an AMAZING little Asian restaurant near all the banks that lead into the heart of the town centre. I discovered it spontaneously with Dane quite a long time ago now… In fact it was back in November 2013! How crazy is that? The restaurant serves all sorts of Japanese dishes from katsu, donburi and even some specials! They also serve bubbled tea, which is always good. The restaurant isn’t exactly huge so if you plan to go make sure you can get a seat before you go ahead and order anything.

– MOD Pizza – Unit 3 Cathedral Lanes Shopping Centre, Broadgate, Coventry CV1 1LL – (website)

This is a new restaurant in Coventry that opened a few weeks back, which in turn I was lucky enough to be invited to! This place is amazing and I am so in love with it. I’m already itching to go back and take my boyfriend as well as some friends with me. You go in and order a pizza from the menu or you can create your own for one set price and add as much or as little as you want, how great is that?! I love pizza so whenever I’m craving it again and I’m over in Coventry, this will be the only place I go moving forward. I can only imagine that students will fall head over heels in love with this place, especially if they have a raging hangover.

– Chai Time – 8 Market Way, Coventry CV1 1DL – (website)

This seems to be a new addition to Coventry, but one I was told by a friend has been around since the summer. This being said I’ve been a few times now and I rather like it. I’ve been drinking bubble tea for quite some time now (7 years in fact…) so I like to think I know when a place is good for bubble tea! You can pick which bubble tea you want by flavours, and even adding how little or how much sugar and ice you want. The two times I visited I went for matcha latte with regular sugar, no ice and pudding. It’s amazing and just talking about it it making me want another one! You can also get freshly baked goods as well as ice cream and dumplings. I’m yet to try those but I already know the baked goods will be amazing as they come from an Asian bakery I visit in Birmingham, which are the best!

– Yaki Sushi – Fairfax St, Coventry CV1 5SR – (website)

If there is one thing I miss about my boyfriend living in Coventry, it’s venturing to this restaurant for Japanese every other weekend. I LOVE Japanese food and I’m forever craving it. To get Japanese where we live we have to go out (as we did with Yaki Sushi) but we have to drive further to get it. This place was practically down the road for us back in the day. I remember we randomly discovered it only through good ol’ Google and after we visited once, we went time and time again! Even so much as organising my boyfriends old work leaving do there! The food is amazing and always feels of the best quality. I love having the katsu curry from there, but the sushi is wonderful. You get decent portions for such a great price and they’re always happy to seat a big party of you as well for special occasions. I recently went there with Amy (Writing into the Ether) and due to the fact I haven’t been in quite some time, I wondered if the service and quality would have changed. Not at all. It’s still amazing! If you ever want to try authentic Japanese food, go here. Leave Wagamama behind.

– Jinseon – 5, Priory Place, Fairfax St, Coventry CV1 5SQ – (website)

Jinseon is a recent discovery for myself and I’m so pleased that I found out about this place sooner rather than later! One of my friends told me about this place and I was a little dubious about it at first as I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. It’s a Korean BBQ restaurant so you cook all your own food on a BBQ on your table. I know that sounds bizarre but it’s actually a thing in Korea and it works so well! I had heard about it before from YouTubers I watch who live in Japan and Korea but I never knew that there was one in Coventry. I don’t even know if we have one in Birmingham. You pick your selected meats, sides etc and then they come over to you to cook. The waitresses actually helped us and assisted in us cooking ours, as well as others peoples (from what I saw) which was lovely! When you’re happy with how your meat is cooked you just serve it to yourself and dig in. It’s such an amazing and different concept and a great way to have meals out with your partner or even as a double date, the latter being the way we did it. I definitely want to go here again soon, especially with some other friends as I’m sure they would love it!

So those are my top 5 places that I venture to for food and drink in Coventry! I noticed a recurring theme of most of them (bar one) being Asian food and drink. I do apologise for this, but in all honesty I love that about Coventry. All these amazing Asian restaurants are all close to one another, hence making them easier to get to. Birmingham is good for this too, but I don’t feel like they has as much variety so close to one another.

If like myself you love Asian food and want to discover some new places, I highly recommend Coventry for this as it’s out of this world! I’m pretty sure there are some other places I’m yet to visit too of this type of food.

Please let me know in the comments where you like to go to for food and drink in Coventry and if I haven’t mentioned any amazing Asian restaurants, please let me know those too!

Until next time all, thank you for reading and I’ll see you soon!

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment! I have been to Noodle Bar in the past and loved it! But as I’ve only been once I couldn’t really add it to the list. 😦 I would love to go again though! Thank you for reminding me of it! 😀
