Located in the heart of Coventry City Centre, Yakii Sushi offers a wealth of dishes to please Asian loving foodies. From noodles to rice dishes, bao buns to sushi – there is plenty of choice.
We visited Yakii Sushi midday Saturday, sat at a spacious table with comfy leather cushions – it felt like a real treat to be out with the family. The ambience was pleasant with cherry blossom decoration, and a wall of foliage making for a fabulous selfie background. We snuck in a round or two of hangman whilst we waited for our dishes to arrive.
On the food front, we were spoilt for choice, so ordered a variety from the menu. On the side we ordered, Prawn Gyoza and Teriyakii Beef Buns. served on perfect plates for dipping. The Prawn Gyoza were fried to perfection, crispy on the outside with a succulent inside. The Teryakii Beef Bun was a hit, with all – we considered buying a second dish of these! As we were dining with the kids, I liked that the buns came with spring onion and chilli on the side, the kids could try without the added extras that would put them off, but they were still options for us to add!
For our main dishes we tried the Teppanyaki Chicken Udon noodles, Salmon Maki sushi, Yakii Special Homemade Spicy Beef and Braised Beef egg fried rice. I had the Yakii Special and enjoyed every second of it! The dish was perfectly balanced, the ideal meat to veg, noodle to sauce ratio. Our youngest had the Chicken Udon noodles and loved them, even trying bok choy! Our eldest had the Salmon sushi, which he enjoyed, and then helped his sister with her noodles! My other half had the Braised Beef egg fried rice.
After our dinner, we were quite full and we were allowed time to relax and ponder the dessert menu. The kids finished their meal with a bowl of vanilla ice-cream and chocolate sauce, whilst I enjoyed the 24K Edible Gold ice-cream with chocolate.
At the end of the meal we enjoyed giving the kids their first fortune cookies that came along with the bill. Yakii Sushi provided an alternative family lunch together and we will definitely be back!
If you are have yet to try Yakii Sushi and are a fan of modern Eastern Asian Cuisine then I highly recommend a visit.
A couple of the dishes were complimentary in exchange for an honest review.
