Top 10 Things To Do In Coventry + Warwickshire This Summer.

So, I don’t know about you but it is highly unlikely I will be jetting on a plan at any point this year. However, this means I have a chance to explore more of our lovely City and surrounding areas. I for one didn’t realise just how many hidden gems there were for us to do here, take a look at my top picks for the Summer:

Birthed from the legendary Digbeth Dining Club, the street eats favourite now has a home here. Luckily for us here, we have 3 venues to pick from all on our door stop. Between the Cathedral views, Warwick Castle backdrop or the latest pop up at Lunt Fort – this is the perfect place to enjoy food and drinks with friends and family. Each venue has a unique setting, all beautiful and with each venue is a completely different vibe. So why not check out all 3. I have made a visit to The Open Arms but will definitely be paying the others a visit throughout Summer.

Whether you are a cinema buff or just fancy watching a film somewhere other than your living room sofa, Summer screens is the place to be. Set over a few weeks in August, Coventry Cathedral Ruins is hosting an open air cinema event with some classic films and the latest releases.

Draycote water is a stunning location in Rugby. A 5 mile scenic walk around the waters with plenty of picnic stops en route. If walking is not your thing you can stop by the water all day and do a spot of fishing, or if you’re brave enough to take the “seas” and book a lesson in sailing or take a relaxing paddle board around the bay.

Located in Leamington’s peaceful Jephson gardens. This is perfect for kids, adults and all members of the family. You can rent out a kayak or paddle boat and float down the river. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a sunny Summers day. After that why not take a stroll round the park and head for some food at the next spot on our list…

This is a perfect one if you are a foodie like me. Inside this rustic venue holds multiple eateries. Whether you are after a quick coffee and cake, stone baked pizzas or indulge in some steamed buns and noodles this place is for you. Perfect spot if you have some fussy eaters, there is something for everyone.

This hidden gem is perfect to get your adrenaline rush going. Located in Coventry City centre, this is easily accessible from all areas of Coventry and Warwickshire. The climbing facilities hosts coaching sessions or just casual 2 hour sessions – perfect to keep kids and big kids entertained.

If you find the climbing wall too easy check out Go Ape, located on the outskirts of Coventry near Binley Woods. Go Ape offers a range of different courses depending on ability or age. Whether you want to take it easy with some Axe throwing or go full on Tarzan with the Treetop challenge, this is perfect to do with family or even a date. The course has the stunning Coombe Abbey as it’s backdrop, so it really does give you the jungle vibes.

Okay, so this one is technically not in Warwickshire, however it is only a throw away in Leicester. If you’ve seen the show and ever fancied taking part, this is perfect for you. Booking slots come in 1 hour session, but perfect for those potential rainy days this Summer.

Part of Coventry’s creative quarter. This is the perfect place to spend you afternoon. From arts and crafts, vintage stalls, local fashion brands, cafes, restaurants and even a brewery. Fargo Village is really the hub of the City. I’d recommend checking out some of my favourites; Bib’s Noodle Bar, The Brownie Box and Twisted Barrel.

A rooftop bar in Coventry? Yes, Coventry. This bar brings a touch of glamour to the City. Situated in the old offices for – yep, you’ve guessed it – Coventry Telegraph. The building is now home to a restaurant, hotel and bar. With a 1950s theme, this place is perfect to go for after work drinks, a nice family meal or even a staycation.

Bonus point: Take a look around Coventry City Centre.

If you did not know, Coventry is this years City of Culture! There are so many events going on around our City this year to celebrate, so why not pop along to one. In-between events take a pit stop at one of the restaurants and bars around town. Our City is full of buzz this year, its definitely worth taking the opportunity to check out some of the events going on.

Tag us on our Instagram or Facebook page if you manage to check any of these out.
